Can't stop looping with play buttonn

When I'm marked some measures for looping and press the play button the loop is running well. After some loops (n counts?) I can't stop looping with the play button (or space). The loop starts again at the beginning of the loop. After deactivating the loop I can stop the loop with the play button (or space).
