Sticking in MDL

I cant seem to figure out sticking when im trying to write snare music. I do add>text>Sticking(or whatever that string is) and when i try to type, the stickings dont automatically line up with the notes, its just written as if im writing a word or something. They just dont line up. Any help? Thanks! Im in musescore 3, im new so i dont know if that matters.
