Playback dynamics work at the beginning, but later everything is just loud.
At measure 13 the playback is in the appropriate dynamic. At measure 53 the similar material at the same dynamic of "piano" is much louder

Actually even f, as that hairpin goes past the p rather than ending with it

Now if I could get rid of the space which has appeared at measure 51 between the top two staves.

I fixed it. I must have accidentally clicked on the flat in the top staff and dragged it down.
