Apple M1 Chip and Musescore compatibility

• Dec 7, 2020 - 00:41

My daughter uses Musescore to compose.
She currently has a wheezy older MacBook Air with an Intel processor, running the current Musescore application.
We are getting her a speedier new MacBook Air with the Apple M1 chip, which uses Rosetta 2 to emulate software that has not been configured for the new chip.
Guidance please on compatibility, work-around, thoughts on, warnings, and all things Musescore.
I also have Musescore on an ancient MacBook Pro with an Intel processor, but I have no talent, so this is not an issue.
Thanks!

Dear Jeetee,
I’ve just seen your post on the forum.
I am in a situation of needing to replace my dead MacMini pretty well immediately.
I would really appreciate your experience with the M1 and Rosetta as I really prefer not to buy an Intel Mac now. In fact I won’t buy an Intel Mac now.
I’m not a heavy user of MuseScore. I only use it fore simple transcribing trying to teach myself piano and music reading.
Any comment from experienced users would be appreciated.

Kind regards
John
