Thanks Shoichi

I plan to try the procedure given in the link. This silent note problem occurs on single notes as well as a single note and a three-note chord. There's no particular pattern; it seems random. I did find that playing the exported midi file on the Windows Media Player shows the silent note problem appears to be with the file and not in Piano Marvel.

Had the same in mind as @Shoichi, to reset the velocity from "user" to "offset". Also, maybe it's more an issue of pianomarvel? Also the midi file differs to the pdf - with and without lyrics, different numbers of instruments?

Thanks Kuwit.

I thought this problem of silent notes was a pianomarvel problem, but when I played the midi file on the Windows Media Player the silent notes were there. To me this means the midi file is defective. This file came from File >Export of the file to my desktop from within MuseScore. Playing the song in MuseScore works fine. I plan to try the idea of Shoichi.

I think I have solved my silent note problem.

Consider the problem-file Greensleeves cds lrs ties.mscz . Notice in measure 9, half note A3 , and notice that in the Am chord, in measure 9, there is the same note A3 AND this note is tied to A3 in the Am chord in measure 8. I think the ties from measure 8 to 9 keep ALL of these A3s in measure 9 silent and allows the A3 in the chord in measure 8 to continue to sound. Or, MuseScore doesn't allow a second A3 in measures 8 or 9 to sound, after the A3 in the chord has been played,.

In the fixed file Greensleeves Test 3S.mscz I found that if I replaced the A3 in the chord in measures 8 and 9 with A2, then the A3 in measure 9 sounded fine.

There were three more cases of silent notes in the file Greensleeves cds lrs ties.mscz in measure 15, quarter note A3 didn't sound; in measure 25, dotted half note A3 didn't sound; and in measure 31, quarter note A3 didn't sound. I fixed all these problem notes by replacing all the chord A3 notes with A2 notes. File Greensleeves Test 3S.mscz shows these changes as well as a few other fixed bugs.

Thanks for the reply.

The problem is noticed when the file you mentioned is uploaded to and played on Piano Marvel, and it is also noticed if that MuseScore midi file is played on the Windows Media Player. The file you mentioned has the silent notes the other does not. When the file you mentioned is played in MuseScore I don't notice silent notes. So, I thought it could be a piano Marvel Problem but silent notes on the MuseScore-generated midi file made me think it cant be Piano Marvel.

When I changed the A3 to A3 in the chords, then the previously silent notes sounded fine
