Changing Part Names?
Hi!
I'm creating a 3-part a cappella piece and the part names (the names of the characters singing, rather) aren't functioning properly.
I tried doing Add > Text > Part Name, but that added any part name to the top left hand corner and then had to be dragged down into place. A quick fix, but doesn't give the abbreviations throughout the piece as I would like.
I eventually figured out that if you right click the measure, you can add a part name, but when I tried to do that, it would only allow me to add a name to the middle voice, even I had right clicked the top or bottom voice. I've attached a picture for reference.
Any solutions??

If you double click the automatically generated part name the staff/part properties dialog will open. The long instrument name is displayed on the first system of a score or section and the short instrument name on all other systems. The part name is only used if you use the menu File->Parts and create all parts and in the mixer to identify the selected part.
If I missed some uses of these items they don't really apply to your question.
