Maximun physical mixing when we use more than one instruments sound to the same melody.

I use MuseScore 3.6.0 Portable AppImage into Ubuntu Studio 20.04.1 LTS (64 bit Linux flavour).

But, maybe this question is valid to older versions, too. I'm not sure.

if we repeat the same melody into more than one music staff into the screen, we can combine sounds from different instruments as we really have a mixing from just one synthesizer sounding as "layer" mode. (I discovered the wheel, hehehe).

BTW: "Layer" mode is when some specific MIDI synthesizer plays something sounding with more than one sound at the same time. As MuseScore doesn't have a direct command to perform this, we can get it repeating the same melody line into more than one staff and assign different instrument sounds to each staff.

But, my question is about how to know if there is a physical hardware limit to this. I'm talking about in the hypothetical case we connect more than 4 MIDI external synthesizer (through JACK) to MuseScore.

Is there a limit? How to know it? ???

Blessings and Greetings from Chile!!!

Juan.
