"Until next chord symbol" duration option not working

• Jan 17, 2021 - 15:00

I am trying to add chord symbols and set the duration to "Until next chord symbol" but it still operates like "Until measure end". Any thoughts?

Sound until next chord symbol is not the same as "repeat" until next chord symbol.
Change the playback sound to a sustaining patch, such as on of the organs (Drawbar/Rock for example) and you'll notice that the Dm does indeed sound for the full 3 measures.

All you are witnessing is the natural decay of the chosen grand piano sound, which just so happens to be about as long as one full measure at the current tempo.

Just an update to explain how I resolved my query - it will seem obvious now! I will add a chord symbol on every measure/bar (a bit tedious) and then make it invisible on the subsequent bars (also tedious)) so they don't show up in the print-out.
I am doing this for an inexpert ukulele group so that the score shows when to change chord without the changes being buried in the mass of other chords. In actual fact, I don't really need the chords to be audible at all, but it's useful to hear the music set against the sound of the chords.
I also want to show the chord tabs at the top of the document. I have added an extra bar at the start of the piece which just contains a rest broken down into as many smaller rests until there's enough for each different chord. I then make them all invisible and add a chord symbol and its tab to each rest. It's a bit clunky but it does the job.
