how can I go back to a stable version 3.5
3.6.1 is crashing every 2 mins to the point where it's impossible to get anything done. How can I get the last stable download? If I try to download 3.5.2 it gives me 3.6.1 again. I have a deadline and I can't work with this and don't have time to diagnose and file a bug report. Thanks.

Only if that still fails grab 3.5.2 from https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/releases/tag/v3.5.2
To be clear: the crash problem on startup is with the installation, not the version of the program - the installer has a problem where it corrupts the installation. So whether you reinstall 3.5.2 or any other version you'll see the same issue.
If you see a problem after installation, it's unrelated, and we'd need your score and steps to reproduce the problem. If there is a crashing problem, we want to know and fix it, for benefit not just of you but the other millions of users. It shouldn't take any longer to upload your score than to reinstall MuseScore, far less in fact. So please do yourself, us, and the world this favor.
Try to go to the help menu and choose to return to factory settings. It worked on my case.
