Centering whole-notes and whole-note chords in the measure

• Feb 11, 2021 - 17:43

This may seem like an unusual question: How does one center a single note or chord (whole notes) in a measure? In creating music theory worksheets for harmonic analysis and chord spelling, I first write in a major or minor key (using staff text), then write in a chord (using Roman Numeral Analysis)...so far, so good. I hide the whole rest in the measure above. When I want to go back in and create a completed (with answers) version, the chords are stuck up against the key signature, and not over the centered Roman numeral analysis.

Thanks in advance for your wisdom!

I don't get it in all, maybe attache an example score, but maybe you're looking for "leading space" of the inspector to place the note/chord?

I'm not understanding why your RNA would be centered, though? It would normally be left aligned even if the rest is centered. If you attach a score, we should be able to assist better.

But, I can certainly see why you wouldn't want either the RNA or notes themselves to be as close to the beginning of the measure in a worksheet as they might normally be in "real" music. So, the leading space adjustment is a good call. Or if the whole worksheet is like this, increase the "System header distance" in Format / Style / Measure.
