DYNAMIC MARKINGS

So...I decide I want the topmost part in the three to be louder than the lower two. I click once on the dynamic from the palette fff and drag it out of the palette window to where I want it to go on the score.
I then let go and, instead of staying, it flicks back to the palette.
What might be the most correct and effective way of doing this ?

If you wish to drag & drop from the palette, you need to drop onto a specific element in the score - in the case of dynamics, onto a specific note or rest.

That's rarely the most efficient way to use the palette, though. Instead, select the element in the score then click the palette item.

See the Handbook for much more info on using MuseScore.
