How do I obtain scores?

I am new here, so sorry if this post is in the wrong place, or if my question has been covered ad nauseam.

I have a lot of physical sheet music (piano and vocals) for songs by popular artists such as Billy Joel, Elton John, John Lennon, etc. I would like to get these scores into MuseScore for two main reasons:

(1) to transpose the scores to match my vocal range, and
(2) to use the playback feature to help me learn the songs.

I have tried scanning to PDF and using the experimental import feature, but the results were unusable. I started to manually enter the scores, but this is extremely time consuming.

I would like to just download some of these scores in a format that MuseScore recognizes. I would even be happy to repurchase these scores, but I am not familiar with the websites that sell sheet music in electronic format.

Can anyone here please offer me some advice or recommendations?

Really, there is no easy way to do this. As you have found, importing graphic scores is pretty much useless. I'm afraid the best, perhaps only way, is note-by-note.

Thanks for the reply. I thought perhaps there was an established marketplace where people could buy sheet music in a format that MuseScore would recognize. But I guess not. That's rather surprising. I did find some MIDI files for some of my songs. I imported one and got a nice score. It will require some editing, but that will be much easier than creating the whole thing from scratch.
