Measure lengths

• Mar 17, 2021 - 21:25

Sometimes my scores allow for only one measure in a staff. All the line breaks are removed, I try shift left bracket and nothing moves, so I'm stuck with one measure in a system even though the next almost identical measures fit two or more measures to the system. I've attached a screen shot showing two pages, top systems have one measure, bottom systems have two measures. Thank you in advance for solutions.

That dotted rectangle inbetween seems to be a (vertical?) frame; which by nature forces a split of the system. Remove those frames and you'll be just fine.

Thank you, jeetee. That solved that problem. However, I had entered the frames to create a better looking score because the systems don't align well with the default settings. I've adjusted some of the settings in Style, but haven't found the magic formula for making the score look right.

Not sure what you mean about aligning well, only thing that should happen is they start and end at the marigns, and this definitely happens by default. Except of course for the first system which is indented. Maybe you mean something about the spacing? You can certainly tweak that if necessary with spacers (better than frames for this) but even that should not be needed much, MuseScore should already spread things to fill the page nicely. At most you might need to tweak some of the min & max distances in your style settings.

So if you have a score where you feel something is off in the alignment or spacing of systems, best to attach it here so we can understand and advise better.
