Bari Sax playing super high?

• Mar 19, 2021 - 02:01

Alright so out of nowhere my playback has started to play all instruments besides the piano super high in the playback. This is only happening on Newer scores though because I have a previous one that is fine. What I usually do is make a new score and the chord progressions for piano and the change the mixer to Bari Sax but now it’s doing what I previously mentioned. Any Help?

Bari Sax is a transposing instrument (octave + major sixth down), Piano is not. So don't change the sound, but change the instrument, then move the notes into the right octave

For the record, the highest note a bari sax can play normally is the F written an octave above the staff, but the sounding pitch for this is the second-space Ab. So almost anything you write for piano on the treble clef staff will be completely unplayable and will sound pretty ridiculous in MuseScore's playback as well. In the future, if you want to write for bari sax, best to actually add that instrument to begin with, and make sure "Concert Pitch" is enabled. You can then write in bass clef in the octave it will actually sound, and then when you're done, just turn "Concert Pitch" back off to see it automatically transposed and put back in treble clef.
