How to change Time Signature and Place Lyrics - Do I have the correct version of MuseScore?

• Mar 21, 2021 - 19:36
  1. I signed up for the Pro Version of MuseScore two days ago, and watched a couple of YouTube Videos concerning how to use the MuseScore MuseScore3. However, I could not find the Lyrics Palatte that should be available. I managed to get something added as Lyrics and it has some kind of instructions that are not helpful in trying to insert lyrics.
  2. When I set up my original score I accidentally set it at 3/8 timing, when it should have been 6/8. Then I found a way to change it to 6/8, but when I opened it again it had reverted to 3/8 time, and I have been unable to correct it to what it should be.
  3. This seems to be LESS than even the BASIC version that was described on the Video on YouTube.
  4. Also, I tried to find sheet music the first night I had signed up, and could find NONE with Lyrics, which is what I really wanted. Please help me to get this to work or help me to cancel and get my money back.
I had thought it was on a 30 day trial and then would go to the $2.49 per month basis. But it seems that to get the special price it turned out to pay $29.99 per year up front with NO trial time. This has turned out to be very frustrating, and nothing like getting the Pro Version that works so easily as was described on the video. If this cannot be resolved, I really don't know how this is helpful to me.

Pro Version of MuseScore does not exist, MuseScore software is complete opensource and free.
Rely on the Handbook: https://musescore.org/en/handbook
https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/lyrics
https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/time-signatures
find sheet music you are referring to .com. See:https://musescore.org/en/faq#faq-20657
Any questions or issues concerning billing (of a Pro subscription) need to be sent to support@musescore.com or the "Contact us" on the footer of the musescore.com website

  1. There is no Pro Version of the notation software; it is always entirely, completely and fully free.
  2. There is no Lyrics palette; see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/lyrics on the various possibilities to enter lyrics
  3. Time signatures also have an entry in the online handbook; so perhaps https://musescore.org/en/handbook/time-signatures can help you out further as well
  4. As there is no Pro version, there also is no Basic version of the software. There are however several so called "workspaces" which dictate what you see by default; of those, there is by default a "Basic" and an "Advanced" workspace installed along with MuseScore. See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/workspaces on how to change between them
  5. What happens on the score sharing platform musescore.com (which does indeed have a Pro subscription model) is handled over on that site. See https://musescore.org/en/faq#faq-20657 on the difference between both sites.
As a consequence, nobody on this site here (.org) can help you out with any payment or account issues you might have over on that site. There are definitely scores published on there that have lyrics. Be aware as well that .com is nothing more than a community of user-uploaded scores without any kind of quality control, so be aware of what you pay for.

In case there is still confusion:

1) You signed up for a Pro account on the score sharing website musescore.com, but this has no bearing on the actual MuseScore notation software itself. It does allow you to download copyrighted music from that website, but it in no way affects anything about MuseScore on your computer. It runs the same whether or not you happen to have a Pro account.

Not sure which videos you watched, but there has never been a lyrics palette. Lyrics are always entered via Ctrl+L or the menu (Add / Text / Lyricsl older versions might have had it elsewhere).

2) A score won't revert to an older version on its own, but its certainly possible you save it a version once then did a Save As to save a second copy of it, and accidentally opened the older version. just try to remember the exact folder you saved the newer version to and the name you saved it under, and be sure to open that copy instead of the older one.

3) As mentioned, the default workspace is Basic, but you can change to Advanced using the control at far right of the toolbar (it was formerly at the bottom of the palette window).

4) I guess you are talking about having trouble finding something on the score sharing website musescore.com? You'd have to ask over there on that website for help with that. but there are probably about a million scores with lyrics there, shouldn't be too hard to find some.
