musescore does not work with keyboard

I've check this forum for fixes for keyboards that do not work with musescore.
I am working with Windows 10 on a Dell gaming computer. Although I have followed the instructions to the letter--keyboard turned on before starting Musescore, put in rest, midi icon on, it does not pick up my keyboard (Artura 49... I also tried an Akai 25 mimi).
Musescore does pick up the keyboard on my laptop.
Any suggestions?
