How do you remove baronies and rests?

• Apr 24, 2021 - 13:24

This is brand new to me and I can't seem to make anything work as I'd like it to. I need space to write words in under the notes. I don't need all the rests, and the bar lines are too close together. Please help me. Thanks.

Depends on why you want to remove them.

Of you want to join measures, Ctrl+Del the barline, or select the measrues to join and use Tooles > Measure > Join selected measures
If you want to delete voice 2-4 rests, visually, select and Del them
If you want to loose the entire beat, in the entire system, use Crtl+Del

None will suit your needs though it seems.
You can use lyrics, possible also attached to rests maybe?
Or use a text frame?

Thanks so much for your reply. I need to remove the rests in the bars also. There simply isn't enough room in the measure for the notes I want to have. With 4/4 time I want two quarter notes and four eighth notes, but the program puts them in the next measure. And I can't seem to get rid of the rests. Sorry, but this is very new to me. I don't seem to be able to select them and delete them. I'll try joining measures as you've outlined.

Sorry it took me a while to respond. I don't see any + or - near the measure. I'd love to share a score, but I've not been able to create anything that makes sense yet. The time signature says 4/4, so I would assume that the program would allow me to put the notes into one measure. Probably one problem is that whenever I put a note in it puts a quarter note. I don't know how to make them eighth notes. I have mastered many programs in my life, but so far this one doesn't seem intuitive to me somehow. All I want to do is get a single line down on paper for a singer to follow. Woof. Thanks for any more help you can give me.
