Ossia stave
Is there a way to add an Ossia stave as in the example attached.
I tried adding the alternative passage in another voice but it doesn't work well.
Thanks

See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/staff-part-properties#common-staff-… and check "Cutaway"

Thank you. I tried to use the 'cutaway' function but couldn't see how it works.
I want to add an alternative passage to measures 17 - 23 in the attched score. How do I use the 'cutaway' function to do this please.
Thanks.

add another staff, enter the notes, mark that staff as Cutaway

Thank you. When I do that it appears on the score as an additional stave for the measures concerned which is fine, but when I then generate the parts they appreas as part 1 and part 2 rather than the alternative stave being added to part 1. So if I may stretch your patience a little longer, how do I now get the alternative stave added to just one printed part? Is there a 'combine parts' function somewhere?

A part (from File > Parts) can have more than one instrtument
But your score doesn't have any parts (yet).

I can't get those two parts combined using file>parts>instruments in part, so I guess it must be me.

File > Parts > Single Part > name it, select intruments > OK

OK, just got it sorted. Thank you for your help.
