Repeat lists not working as expected.

Hello MuseScore community,

I am having an issue with a score I am trying to write.

There is a main phrase that has multiple endings to it, and this is how the endings should work:
1st Ending: Played once.
2nd Ending: Played twice.
3rd Ending: Played once.

Thus, I configured the repeat lists for each accordingly:
1st Ending: "1"
2nd Ending: "2, 3"
3rd Ending: "4"

When I would play the score back to make sure everything sounded correct, it would play the phrase, go through the first ending, play the phrase again, play the second ending, play the phrase again, and play the second ending again. Once it played the second ending for a second time, however, the player stopped, and never went back to the main phrase, and thus never touched the 3rd ending.

How do I fix this? (Also, apologies in advance if this makes no sense).

I modified the repeat list of the 2nd/3rd ending to have its play count set to 3, but what ends up happening is that the main phrase plays through the first ending, then it repeats but stops before the 2nd/3rd ending.
Any other suggestions?

I've also attached the file you uploaded with the suggested fix just to see if it's an issue on my end only.

You should re-name your attachments if you modify a file so we can talk about the files by name. Your file was named Repeat Error File, and so I named mine Repeat Error File 2 to distinguish which file we are talking about.

So, click on the second volta in Repeat Error File 2 (my file), look in the Inspector for 'Repeat list'. It shows 2, 3.
If you check your file (which you say I uploaded) you can see that the 'Repeat list' shows only 3. Apparently you changed it from the file I uploaded. (That's why versioning file names is good.)

N.B. 'Repeat list' in the Inspector is different from 'Play count' in Measure Properties.
See:
https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/measure-operations#properties
and look for 'Play count' in the picture.

Noted, will make sure to change the name of the file if modified.

So, to clarify on that, I modified your file (which was titled "Repeat_Error_File 2") and changed the Repeat List of the second volta, setting it to "3" instead of "2, 3" like I had originally set it. I specified this in my previous message so I'm sorry if it didn't make sense to you, but I did say, "I've also attached the file you uploaded with the suggested fix just to see if it's an issue on my end only." I.e., I downloaded YOUR file ("Repeat_Error_File 2), made the modification YOU suggested (change the Repeat List value) and uploaded it, because you had only made the suggestion and not actually changed it as you suggested.

Clearly I misinterpreted what you had said, thinking to change the 'Repeat List' instead of the 'Play Count,' but as I look in the inspector, there isn't actually a setting to modify the play count, Can you highlight where this setting is? I'm not finding it anywhere.

Did you play my file?
There was nothing wrong with the 'Repeat list'. Both your file and my file were good, so no need to mess with it.
The 'Play count' is what needed fixing:

To get your score to play back correctly, you need to change the play count in your score.
The score I attached was fixed so you could hear the correct playback. No change was needed at all to that particular score.

I included links in my posts above.
Anyway...
Observe the picture here
https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/measure-operations#properties
and look for 'Play count', towards the bottom right, above 'Apply'. This is what gets set to 3 (in Measure Properties - not in the Inspector).
