how to add dotted line
In the first staff, last measure there is a dotted line that runs from the bottom staff to one note in the top staff. How do I accomplish this?

In general there's a option with add->lines->note anchored line and changing the line style inside the inspector. But seems to be a little bit tricky over a system break, so maybe you'll need two of them and it's necessary to adjust their length.

Thanks much, that worked. Now all I have to do is remember it in future. :-)
Select the two notes then use Add / Lines / Note Anchored Line, then use the Inspector to set it dotted if you like. For notes across system breaks that are themselves on a staff line as opposed to space, you may have a hard time seeing the line because it is initially drawn horizontally when crossing a break. but it's there, and you can select it and position it manually.

Helpful hint: implement that line as one of the last steps you do in your score editing, after all the layout and spacing adjustments have been made, Otherwise, any changes in the spacing may make your careful adjustments go all haywire.
