I want the crescendo hairpin to extend for two bars. Is there any way I can do this without inserting another hairpin? I only want one that can last for two bars.
for now i just clicked on the hairpin to prolong it until the next bar. is there a better way that would make my score look neater?

Well, if you mean slurs, it is the same thing, see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/slurs#note-input-mode
Ties connect only 2 notes of same pitch, and if need be cross a barline and a system breakl automagically

also is there a way i can compare two musescore scores together to see where there are differences? instead of comparing them manually using my eyes one bar by one bar.
