How is the "Album" action supposed to work?

I tried using the "Album" action in 3.6.2 after mapping a shortcut key to it, and it shows a dialog allowing me to add/remove scores, but much of the time it just crashes.
Actually after a few goes I was finally able to add two scores then save as a new score, and successfully reload what appeared to be multiple scores just concatenated together. Then on bringing back up the Album manager, most of the buttons didn't do anything (Up/Down/Remove etc.). But on adding new scores the score display didn't look correct (or crashed).

I found some forum comments suggesting this hadn't been implemented in MU3, but obviously since then it has been, just doesn't seem to be quite working fully? Curiously it doesn't appear in the File menu unless you start with the -e command line option, but unlike other experimental options does appear in the shortcuts dialog.

Is this a feature we should be porting for MU4? (or a later version)

It was a feature of MuseScore 2 used to combined scores if they had the exact same instrumentation, and style settings, etc. It was disabled for MuseScore 3 as it was quite buggy and way too limited, and the plan had been to redesign and reimplement it a better version, but somehow this just hasn't happened, despite some excellent efforts on a GSoC project last year.

If you see any remaining references to albums in 3.6.2, it's just an oversight, it should have been removed completely.

Right now as far as I know there still is no work being done to return album functionality. To me it's a huge black eye on the MuseScore project, really the single biggest one in its history.
