extra time character : how to insert
Hi all,
I am dealing with the situation illustrated in the attached pic: all four voices have an extra note in parenthesis which I don't know how to implement with MuS.
Can you pls provide me with your advice?
Thanks for your help,

Change the measure properties if that measure to allow for an actual duration of 4/4
Add the note, make it small
add the tie, make it dashed
make the rests small
Add brackets to the note and the rests

Thanks.
While I've managed to add the parenthesis to the soprano's note, I don't seem to be able to add them to alto's rest by using the accidental tool (see pic)

Indeed not via the accidentals tool. Should not have worked for the note either, use the noteheads tool instead

you have not made the note (the chord actually) and the rests small (yet?)

I've made the note small (now) but still I don't manage to apply parenthesis from noteheads tool either.

True, doesn't seem to work for rests, sorry.
Use the master palette then,
<sym>noteheadParenthesisLeft</sym>
and<sym>noteheadParenthesisRight</sym>

Sorry but I don't think I understand.
From what I see on my side it looks like I need to edit the file as text in order to add the XML type of info..

Selecting the rest and then clicking the parentheses from the notehead palette doesn't work So press Z to bring up the master palette, go to Symbols at the foot of the list, and type 'parenthesis) in the search box to bring up a selection.

That's indeed what I meant ;-)

OK, I've got it. Thanks
Better alternativ: use voice 2 (or 3, for the proper stemm direction) instead, remove or hide the superfluous rests
