Bars per stave

• Sep 7, 2021 - 16:51

I have successfully created some scores with Musescore following the handbook which came with the program and also Mark's course but I am sorry to say I cannot find an answer to this basic question.
I have a lead sheet completed but it only has two bars per stave and I want it to be four bars per stave. The answer to this must be in the introductory procedures i am sure or later if the lead sheet has already been completed but i cannot find it.

Help please

Thank you all for your advice. The simplest way found was :
Open score then choose
format on top line/add or remove system breaks/ and in the small box that appears make it 4 bars.
This does put some clef and key signatures in the middle of the new pages but these can be deleted.

? Adding breaks doesn't add new clefs or key signatures. It's normal in standard music notation to show a clef and key signature at the start of every system. Those cannot be deleted, but if you are creating some special notation that for whatever reason does not rely on clefs or key signatures, you can set the staff or the score to not display them. if you attach your score and explain in more detail the particular result you are trying to achieve, we can understand and assist better.

Thank you for your reply above.
In my case the second page became effectively part of the first page and the treble clef and key signature of that second page became features in the middle of the first page (with the notes of the second page following). They then could then be deleted by normal means. So that is a success.
What I have now succeeded in creating a Lead Sheet with all the necessary details including Title, composer, copyright sign (as fairly big C in a circle using a number pad routine) and of course words and chord symbols. I struggled getting the above certain sizes and I turned to your course - (really indispensable). What I realized late on was that if you want , say, the composer's name or the copyright symbol in big letters you can use say the built in provision for say Title. In other words get large latters by creating a second title box but use the composer's name as the title then and moving it to somewhere else on the page. This is something of a "work-around" and there is probably a better way of doing it.

Again, everything should work perfectly right out of the box by default - no need to delete anything. It's not clear what you might be doing wrong here, but if you attach your score and steps to reproduce the problem, were can understand and assist better.

To create large text, if it's not a title, don't use the title and then drag it - that will just create more problems later. Instead, add the correct type of text to begin with (staff text, rehearsal, mark, or whatever) then simply use the Inspector to change the font size. See the Text lessons in my course (or in the online Handbook) for more information.

Glad my course is helping with the other basics of setting up a lead sheet, though!!
