Rubato/Fermata "Tap To Continue" Mode for Playback?

• Sep 30, 2021 - 17:20

Does a plugin exist that would allow playback to PAUSE after each chord symbol, then let me "click to continue" (or his space bar to continue) so I could practice jazz improvisation over a set of changes?

For example:
C-7 plays (first bar) and HOLDS... waits for me to hit space bar to continue
F7 plays (second bar) and HOLDS... waits for me to hit space bar to continue

(Basically, if iRealPro paused after every chord symbol).

How would I go about coding a plugin to match this behavioir? I've never developed a MuseScore plugin, but I've done Java, Javascript, and Python programming in the past.

No, it doesn't exist and no a plugin can't hold playback.

What you could attempt is set an insanely slow playback tempo and then use the arrow keys to navigate during playback, which is almost as if scrubbing it.

Wow, as many times as this has come up - and indeed, it's one of the very first feature requests I ever submitted (#9349: scrubbing playback) - somehow I never really got that this workaround was possible. Slow tempo, sure, but then using the arrow keys - brilliant! Probably you and/or others have suggested it before and it never registered. Anyhow, thanks!

Old dog - check!
