Duplicate 4 triplets
In the first bar of the 1st Movement Moonlight Sonata written in C time, the score has four separate triplets with the notes of A, D, F repeated without rests in Treble Clef. The Base Clef has one whole note of D. In trying to duplicate this bar I can get partially there but keep running into the same problem with assigning a workable time signature without the score jumping over into the second bar. I have tried various combinations of time signatures without success. I have watched the youtube videos, etc. Please advise what the time signature should be and what I am doing wrong. Thank you.

Just use what you said you'd use: 4 triplets. Each based in a quarter note, so 4 times a triplete of 8th notes
Without seeing your actual score, it's hard to tell what you might be doing wrong, but my guess is, you are entering ordinary eighths instead of triplets. Use Ctrl+3 to enter triplets, and see the Handbook under Tuplets for more info. if that's not it, please attach your score and explain what you are doing more precisely - what you are pressing/clicking, what you expect to happen, what happens instead - so we can understand and assist better.
