Docking the Master palette

• Nov 10, 2021 - 15:29

Can you guys add a feature so that you can dock the master palette along with the mixer and inspector? It's pretty annoying when you wanna restore down Musescore, because managing the master palette which is blocking the screen is pretty tough. Thanks a lot :)

The master palette is obsolete, it no longer has any particular purpose and I had heard at one point was likely to be removed in a future release. Is there a reason you are trying to use that rather than the standard palette?

Note the special functions of the key and time signature editors are of course still important, but they are only a keystroke away, as is the Symbols palette.

Thanks for scolding on how everyone should work just like you. Now can we actually answer the question about docking palettes?

This question was not about docking the regular palettes at all but if that would be made possible for the master palette dialog; a dialog for which the use is intended to be sporadic and to build your custom regular palettes. As such, there is currently no plan to make this a dockable window. Pointing out intended usage of a feature is not quite the same as scolding to me.

The regular palette window of course is still dockable.

Not sure what you mean by scolding. Are you referring to the perfectly legitimate question I asked to try to understand why someone else (not you) was trying to access the master palette in the first place? The person to whom I was responding mentioned they were using it "when you wanna restore down Musescore", which I understood to mean, to add back palette items they had previously deleted. It seemed perhaps the user to whom I was responding simply didn't realize you don't need the master palette for that - everything you require is under the "More" button within the main palette.

So anyhow, as mentioned, right now there is no plan to continue development of the master palette. If there is a particular problem you are trying to solve, I'm happy to help you solve that problem as well.
