Currently MuseScore have two preset workspace "Basic" and "Advanced".
I suggest to add a third preset workspace "Read Only". In this workspace, all menus and palettes required for editing the score are hidden. The main elements usable are zoom, page display, playback buttons, read palette, mixer palette.
ReadOnly workspace is intended to use use MuseScore as a simple reader-player, hidding the complexity of editing functionalities.
It is not intenred as a locking protection of the score file; user can switch to basic or advanced wotkspace.

I use the attached "playback" workspace which hides all toolbars (so perhaps to drastic for you?)
