control over beam sloping
This is another 1.3 feature that's gone missing - like the 'Colors' tab in Preferences.
I found the controls for beam sloping a bit unintuitive and glitchy in 1.3, so I don't miss it. I am just curious - as with the change in anchor points for ties - about the thoughts and rationales that went into removing it.

As far as I can see beam sloping works exactly as it did in 1.3 with the added option of adjusting from the inspector, although the spin boxes operate at far to coarse a resolution.
That's on Windows 8.1 Pro
Which OS are you?

The spin boxes are changing in 1/4 sp steps, 1/10 sp might be better I guess?

In 1.3, check Style > Edit Style... > Beams. There are options for 'Minimum Slope' and 'Maximum Slope'. They have been removed from 2.0 Beta 1.

I see they've been replaced by a "flatten beams" checkbox, which is, I suspect, really what more people wanted. And of course, you can always adjust beam angles manually.
Beaming is one part of the layout code I really haven't looked at much but it appears to be quite complex. I would guess maybe the removal of those options was an attempt to simplify.
