Need for restart when switching output device on MacBook
Does anyone know why I always have to restart MuseScore when I'm switching the output device. On my newer MacBook I even have to restart when I switch from internal speakers to headphones.

You can also just toggle (off and back on) the MIDI button (that 5-pin DIN connector icon in the toolbar)

As for the "why" part; because the operating system doesn't play nice with the underlying audio library as used in current versions of MuseScore; in that MuseScore is not made aware of that change by that underlying library.
