After entering one triplet as per the instructions (select total duration, press Ctrl+3), you need to repeat both steps to create another triplet. if you have a whole string of triplets you wish to enter and one to save one keystroke per triplet, you can create the first (leave it with rests for now) then select it and press "R" to repeat it.
