Problems with MuseScore 4 Nightly
So I installed the latest MuseScore 4 Nightly version and everything seems fine until I play the music back (it just plays a single ringing noise). Any way to fix this?

Any way to fix this?
Yes.
If an emergency, use the current stable release, ver. 3.6.2:

Otherwise, wait for new nightlies and check again, then report issues with MuseScore 4 development to the
"Development and Technology Preview" section of the forums.
See:
https://musescore.org/en/forum
and look for:
"Development and Technology Preview

The way to fix it is to either write the code for the new playback system or wait until it is implemented.

Does code for this exist? If not, is there an earlier alpha/nightly version that has audio playback?

Can you explain why you are trying to use an unreleased unstable nightly build in the first place? They aren't ready for use, and earlier versions will just be even more not ready. When the alpha release is ready, there will be announcements here, but until then, they are really just for experimenting and testing, not anything resembling actual use.

No, the code for that doesn't exist yet.
On my system for example there is currently a lot of static noise during playback. This type of bugs/missing features is to be expected given the current development stage of the project.
