You can use different sounds (from different soundfontzs) in different instrument, not in different measures (unless you're using an instrument with multiple channels, like violin (acro, tremolo, pizzicato) or trumpet (open, mute), where you could use differently sounds (from differetn soundfonts) for different channels)
You mean, you have a piece in which you wish a single instrument to start playing a sound from one sounsfont, and then later one switch to using a different sound from a different soundfont? To do that, add an n instrument change from the Text palette, select the new instrument, then in View / Mixer, open up the channel strip for that instrument to show the sub-channel for the new instrument, and then change that to something from your other soundfont.

Thank you for your comment Marc. I am currently trying to create a custom violin part for a score I am working and would like different soundfonts for different play styles, e.g. I would like the staccato notes to be played by one sound font, and the usual legato notes by another. How do I achieve this? I am also unable to correctly perform the instrument change you mentioned, and using of subchannels to add additional soundfonts. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Soundfonts are more limited than VST instruments or MuseSounds, so you might want to check into those options before investing too much time and effort into trying to do this with soundfonts. But, it is doable, Add an instrument change from the Add /Text menu or the Text palette, and be sure to select a different instrument - like switch from solo violin to violin section, or even to piano. This will cause MuseScore Studio to give you a new mixer channel for the instrument, which you can then use to select your soundfont.
With VST instruments, you can add keyswitches on an invisible staff to change samples. With MuseSounds, the samples are switched completely automatically.
