Lost files

Hello,¨
my name is Leif Asp and I´m using the free version
of MuseScore. Today I found that all my files has disappeared!!!
There were at least 100 arrangement that I have made.
I need help to get them back. I´m not sure, but I think I upgraded
to version 2.3.2 last year. Can that be the reason?
best regards Leif Asp

There is only a free version of the software and no way to pay for it if you wanted to.
MuseScore installation and updates never remove your scores; so they still are where you saved them. Browse your PC for "*.mscz" files if you don't remember where that is.

The default location for MuseScore2 and MuseScore3 is different; both have their own folders within your user Documents folder.

MuseScore 2.3.2 is 3 1/2 years old (June 2018), the latest version os 3.6.2 (and 1 year old meanwhile, Feb 2021)
So pretty unlikely you updated ro 2.3.2 a years ago...
Check Help > About to find the real version

As mentioned, all versions of MuseScore are completely free e- no way to pay for it even if you wanted to - and also, 2.3.2 is quite ancient.

But not to worry, no version of MuseScore ever deletes your files. If you save a file to your drive, then it remains saved and is still right there on your drive in the exact same folder you saved it to. It's just a matter of remembering which folder you saved it to, so when you use File / Open to find it, you can navigate there. As mentioned, the default folders used by MuseScore 2 & 3 differ, so if you use File / Open in MuseScore 3, you will need to browse to where your MuseScore 2 files are. The default in MuseScore 3 is Documents/MuseScore3/Scores. Go up two levels to Documents, then down to MuseScore2/Scores - or wherever else you chose to save your files.
