Publishing a Partiture
Dear All,
i am using Musescore mostly to writing partitures for wind orchestra. I am now thinking to publish them on channels such as https://musicaneo.com/ or https://arrangeme.com or https://noteflight.com/ or others.
We do all know that music notation is just a "hint" on " on what a musical idea is about, and how a composer would like her/his music to vibrate and generate feelings in people. For this reason, I find always useful when arrangements also have some "comments from the arrangeur" or from the composer directly - that help understanding her/his composition.
I really love MuseScore platform, since is not "just a music notation software" but also since it covers end-to-end all sorts of users: both the writer and the reader, both on laptop and on mobiles, and even allows playalongs / karaoke to be created and shared (e.g. on https://youtube.com ) by hiding the technical complexities.
At the moment, in order to help myself remembering what was behind a specific choice of instrumentation / arrangement, I am keeping separate comments (using https://www.goodnotes.com/ ) .
When finished i export them as PDF (creating the front page, and then the Instrumentation / About / Program notes / rehearsal suggestions ) -→ GoodNotes.pdf
Likewise I export from Musescore to PDF -→ MuseScore.pdf
Then I combine the 2 files into a single PDF (hereafter called PublishReadyScore.pdf) using
pdfunite GoodNotes.pdf MuseScor.pdf PublishReadyScore.pdf
I was wondering if there is any plan in the future to expand the publishing capabilities of MuseScore also to enable adding of "non music" content .
Thankyou again for this marvelllous approach and endurance you have.
Comments
It's unlikely MuseScore would ever have as full a set of text formatting controls as a real desktop publishing program, so some use of separate PDF's will probably be needed always. But certainly, at least having word wrap and a few other basics would be reasonable to hope for someday.
Meanwhile, though, it isn't clear if you've fully explored what MuseScire is capable of. If you don't mind adding manual line breaks, you can add a frame at the start of your piece and put a page break on it give you a title page, and add whatever text you like to it, with reasonably good formatting control for simple things.
