Invisible Staff for Beginner Keyboard Notation

• Mar 27, 2022 - 08:38

Hello from New Zealand.
I'm familiar with several publications of beginner keyboard music that use a concept to simplify music reading to kick-start and fast-track learning. This involves scores which have no clefs nor staffs/staves but include a simple diagram providing a hand position on the keys. Notes have letter names on the note-heads and finger numbers (where necessary) either above or below. Obviously the note-heads are relatively large. The pitch of the notes is relative ie as if the staff/stave is invisible. I'm wondering if it's possible please to create such a concept in MuseScore please.
Interested for any feedback you can provide.
With thanks
Sally

You can make lines, clef, time signature etc. invisible (right-click on staff for Stave/Part Properties). In Inspector you can change the Note, Head Scheme to show note letters in the note head. There is a Fingering palette to let you add numbers.

If you provide a picture example of the specific format you're trying to recreate, we can show you how to do so within MuseScore.
