note entry line across of page disappeared
The line across the top of my screen disappeared, so that I can no longer choose the type of note I want to choose, or the type of rest. What do I do to get it back?

Right click where note entry used to be and select "Note Input".
You can also toggle toolbars via the View menu.
Also, note that there are keyboard shortcuts for those and most other commands, definitely worth learning. 4-5-6 for eighth-quarter-half, then smaller numbers for shorter values and larger numbers for longer.
