Move note to previous bar; delete unwanted rest

• Apr 19, 2022 - 23:28

Two queries from a newbie:
Can I simply move a note which I've accidentally placed in the wrong bar, or do I have to delete it then insert a fresh note where I want it?
I've ended up with some superfluous rests which I want to delete, but I can't find any way to do it.
Thanks!
David

Cut and paste is indeed how to move notes form one place to another.

As for deleting rests, this depends on why the rests are there in the first place. If they are rests that are musically necessary to ensure the measure has the correct number of beats, you normally shouldn't delete them - unless you are deliberately trying to create measures with the wrong number of beats, in which case Ctrl+Delete will produce that effect (useful for Renaissance or experimental music, for example). If using multiple voices, rests in voices other than 1 can be deleted normally via Delete. Other possibilities too, depending on the specifics. So, if you attach your score and explain which rests you want to delete and why, we can understand and assist better.
