record musescore audio from video software

• Apr 21, 2022 - 18:26

Hi there,

i want to simultaneously record audio and score with keyboard using the "record computer audio" fonction on screenflow.

However when the recording is over, it shows the score / keyboard, but the audio and metronome are missing.

Is there a way I can here the audio?

Regards.

Hi ibcontontact,
here is the answer!

I am also using Screenflow and today I had the same problem as you had.
In MuseScore you will find an empty audio output selector without label. Select this one, it works for normal audio output and also for compatibility with Screenflow. See attached screenshot, please.

The missing and not visible audio driver from Screenflow is named "Telestream audio capture". This one seems to be the one without label in the MuseScore 4 selection.

MuseScore 3 shows this in the list and also lets select it easily (see second attached screenshot). Use this, if you are still using MuseScore 3.

I'm not familiar with "screenflow", but it works fine with most other screen recording platforms. So you could try Screencastify, Loom, or just about anything else. It's also possible screenflow installs a special audio driver that you need to select within MuseScore, in Edit / Preferences / I/O. I believe that's true for Zoom on macOS, for instance.

Hi Marc, please see my answer to ibcontact above including screenshots.
If you are a developer member of MuseScore, please make sure that the audio output driver which appears without name in MuseScore 4, is also labeled with it's appropriate label "Telestream audio capture". Maybe it does not appear with it's label, as it is a longer string than most other drivers?

Hello! I am one of many volunteers who contributes to development, but I don't have access that specific software or indeed to a Mac at all, so I can't confirm if this is an issue in general or not. If others can confirm the problem, then in order for the developers to investigate it, you'd need to open a new issue on GitHub - see https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/new?assignees=&labels=&te…
