Print single page

• May 7, 2022 - 21:43

Hello, total newbie here. I have added the score for a bass instrument on pages 1 (24 bars) and page 2 (8 bars), and wish to print this as a single page of 32 bars.
I have viewed it as a single page, but when I go to print it, it defaults back to a two page printout.
Can anyone help with this problem please?
regards,
Jill

It is much easier to help if you attach the score (.mscz) file here. Then we can see what you have done rather than trying to work it out from your description.

Viewing as a single page means that you are looking at a page that is infinitely long. Some users find it useful not to see page breaks. To get a real WYSIWYG view you should use "Page view".

Looking at [Format]>[Page Settings] I see that you are using A4 paper size in landscape with a very right margin on odd pages and left margin on even pages 101.93 mm in both cases. Do you really want that. If I set the paper to be portrait orientation and reset the margins to 15 mm 32 bars fit on the single page - see attached.

Come back again if I have misunderstood what you are aiming for.

thank you Steve, this is exactly what I needed. Very much appreciate your effort.
I was unaware that there was a page format setting, this being my first use of this software. That 101.93mm margin setting was obviously there when I first opened the program

To be clear though: no, that is definitely not the default margin. Was this a score you got from someone else? If so, thy might have entered that margin. MuseScore also gets its default page size from your default printer, and maybe that has odd settings? For instance, maybe that's why this score is set to landscape instead of the usual default portrait, and that somehow messed up the margins? But normally, you should be seeing portait setting with margins of 15 mm on all sides, for any new score you create.

Ah, that's the issue, then. As I said, MuseScore takes its default page size from your printer, but it's assumed that those defaults are for portrait mode. So that apparently is confusing the margin calculations. If you're going to use the printer with multiple applications, best to leave it with more generic settings, but instead set AucoCAD to default to landscape. That way other programs can function normally.

That said, you can also create a new score, fix the page settings, then go to Format / Save Style and create an MSS file there, then go to Edit / Preferences / Score and set the default style for score to the MSS file you just created. Now future scores you create will get those same settings.
