Synthesizer works sometimes
My synthesizer is grayed out / playback doesn't work most of the time, but occasionally when I restart the program it does. I have been here https://musescore.org/en/node/96811 and followed those steps to no avail.

I have followed the other steps. Musescore is not showing up in the volume mixed.

Be sure to follow step 9 carefully, not omitting any of the requested information. And while you're at it, you might also want to review the other steps to be sure you are equally thorough in following them carefully.
Take good care to note down what the contents of Preferences > I/O is on the occasions where it does work.
Then, when it doesn't, try to see if those options are still available to you. If not, then something else has claimed those devices instead and you might have to follow the steps for disabling exclusive access to the device.
