musescore doesn't recognize audio output

hi, my musescore doesn't playback and everything appears gray and the spacebar doesn't work so in preference I went to i/o and it's all blank? like, it won't let me select any audio output. it's just not there. I've uninstalled and installed older and new versions again, and it still doesn't work.
please, I need urgent help
