Independence of measure beats in grand stave

• Jul 24, 2022 - 12:33

I want to add lever changes for harp in a grand stave, which I can do by inserting extra noteheads in either the bass or treble clef staff, but then the time value in the corresponding staff alters as well, and inserts extra rests to compensate. If I delete them, my insertions are also deleted, and I can't work out how to make the rests invisible without making the whole measure invisible. So, in my example the bass line looks like it has 12 beats, but still actually only should have 4, as should the treble line.
Is there a different way round this? To insert notes that have no time value?

I wouldn't know about harp notation. But don't insert anything. It's a mess. Rather you can add things as graphics. Go to the master palette (SHIFT+K). See note heads, and Harp Techniques (scroll down to and select Symbols). You can create a palette of harp things that you use often. Then you can drag them to your score. The manual will tell how to do that.
To delete any thing you insert, (like a rest created by note insert), it must be in any voice but voice 1. But playback will still try to play the notes.
