My Tempo Markings are Completely Busted

• Jul 25, 2022 - 22:45

I often switch between using wired headphones and a bluetooth speaker when I am writing on Musescore, causing a lot of pain trying to go into the playback settings to find the correct output. Usually I can eventually figure it out but this most recent time I had even more problems than usual. Once I finally got it back to my headphones the sound was completely out of wack and wouldn't playback what I had written. This prompted me to click the "Restart Audio and MIDI Devices" setting, which fixed the audio issue HOWEVER, when I playback my piece it plays at over four times the marked bpm is should be. A piece at 172 bpm plays at an absolutely absurd pace, meanwhile if I set it it the tempo marking to 31 bpm, it plays at roughly 171 bpm.

What in the world is going on here and how do I fix it?

Then don't switch between bluetooth and wired output in the same session. The time you spend trying to get things working could be used saving, closing, changing devices, reopen. And work better anyway.

Post a score that is causing you problems. Post the actual MuseScore file (.mscz) and not a PDF, a WAV file a MIDI etc.. Describe exactly what is wrong with that score, where the problem is and the steps taken that lead up to the problem occurring.
