why can i only put 14 16th notes in a measure in a 4/4 time signature
i was making a song with the default document (i added a bass staff) and normally you can fit 16 16th notes in a measure but somehow i can only fit 14 and in a different one which is the same thing i can fit 16 somehow
i added a picture of it

Do you see the little grey dashes above the first bar line? It indicates that number of beats in that bar does not match the time signature. Right-click the bar and open the bar properties dialogue- there you can correct it.
See “measure properties” in the Handbook: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/measure-operations#properties

thank you it works now
Another way to fix it would be to copy the notes into the next measure if it is blank. If it isn't blank, insert a measure (Add/Measure). Either way, delete the bad measure, afterwards.

Or switch to insert mode, add the 2 missing notes, you'll see the '-' will disappear (16=16), and switch back to normal input mode.

Very true. I try to stay away from insert mode. Too easy for an old guy like me to forget. Then I'm trying to figure out what's happening.
