Use the Inspector to slide a note sideways to create a small distance from a cluster. The note moves but the stem disappears leaving a minim looking similar to a semibreve and eliminating any distinction between solid notes other than absence or rests.

I guess you are making the adjustment in the "Note" section of the inspector. Rather confusingly the "Note" section applies to the notehead only. Make the adjustment in the "Chord" section which applies to the whole caboodle, notehead, stem and flag.
If I guessed incorrectly come back and give more details of how you are trying to "slide" a note.
