audiveris import won't follow all musescore edit commands
after importing an mscz file from the audiveris engine [via musescore], I can't fix the bars with too many/too little beats in them. Basically I cant change the number of beats in any bar, I can change the duration of any note/rest [even faded ones] but the rest of the bar will correct to reflect the original downloaded duration.
This was quite simple on Sibelius but not sure what the problem is here [see screenshot]

You say you can't fix the bars - do you mean, that something goes wrong when you try, or that you don't know how? There are many way to adjustment measure durations in MuseScore, including right-click then Measure Properties, also deleting beats via Ctrl+Delete, etc. If you are saung something wrong when you do this, or if you need further assistance, please attach the actual score instead of just a picture, and explain which measure you are having trouble with and what you'd like to see happen.
Conversions from pdf files often deliver wrong measure durations.
