MS4 - Instrument plays in solo when a measure is selected
If you select a measure of an instrument and click play, it'll only play that instrument
It might be intended but it's really weird since you need to click on a measure/note to select where you want to start playing from, and it takes 2 clicks to make an instrument play in solo in the mixer if that's what you're looking for

That is an intentional change
As mentioned, it's intentional. The mixer takes a lot of space and needing to constantly open and close it can be a drag. Plus, the selection method allows you to easily select multiple adjacent staves - like the whole woodwind section in an orchestra.
