Musehub Muse Sounds not resuming download

• Dec 16, 2022 - 06:40

I was pretty eager to begin using Musehub's new instrument sounds, but after most of them finished downloading 2 of them (specifically woodwinds and strings) stopped progressing and haven't continued since. I reset my computer in an effort to fix the issue, but was met with an error saying "unable to resume download, please try again later". I uninstalled and reinstalled musehub and no longer get the error message, but the sounds still are not downloading.

Yeah, I'm having a similar issue too. I was downloading the brass sounds, but it was going to take too long and I had to be somewhere, so I paused it thinking I could resume it later. Now not only can I not resume downloading the brass, but I can't download any of the other sounds.

Quick edit as of a couple minutes later: I tried uninstalling and reinstalling muse hub, but that doesn't seem to work.

Another quick edit as of a couple seconds later: It works now for some reason.

I'm having the same problem. I uninstalled and reinstalled Musehub, and then decided to download the sounds one by one instead of the whole pack. Muse Woodwinds has been downloading since before last week. And I paused Muse Strings a few days ago so maybe the woodwinds can finish quicker but nope. And now it won't let me resume the Muse strings.

I had this problem with MuseSounds, and it getting stuck while trying to download the final Strings or Strings and Woodwinds module. First, I'm on Windows, so if you're on something else, there are unique instructions for each. I tried to delete MuseHub only, and re-install it, and that got it downloading the final module again, but then it stopped.

So, I read some other comments from a few people that said the only way they got it to work was to uninstall Muse Hub, and MuseScore4, and I also deleted the directory on my Windows computer where Muse Hub stores instruments, which is:
C:\Program Data\Muse Hub

The Instruments are in an "Instruments sub directory folder of Muse Hub, but I deleted the whole Muse Hub directory. Keep in mind the above directory location is if you didn't change the default location.

Then I chose an early morning hour in the US to first download Muse Hub, install it, and wait for that stupid carousel to rotate to where it says Muse Sounds package, and click that and it downloads all the instruments. This takes up about 13.5GB, so if you're short on space, just download the individual ones you want. Anyway, since it was early in the morning, it downloaded at about 30MB/sec and I have a 200MB connection, but it was still much faster than downloading it during a busy hour. But now everything works.

BTW, if you're reading this in mid-2023, you can probably download MuseScore4 etc. at any time of day. It's just that in its first few weeks after release, the server is probably busy, as this is great open source software.

Of course, the next step is to download MuseScore4 through the Muse Hub and it installs and then open a file that has orchestral sounds, or drop one in, and in MuseScore4 select View, Playback Setup, and switch it from the default built-in sounds to MuseSounds, and it "activates" and should use MuseSounds from then on.

I've encountered the same problem on Linux (Linux Mint 21). On Linux, the downloaded files are stored in
/srv/muse-hub/downloads/Instruments/. I deleted the "Muse Strings" folder (should be the same for other sound libraries) and the .instruments file in the same directory, and when I restart Muse Hub, I can download Muse Strings again.

Although reinstalling everything may fix the problem, today I found another solution.
My MuseString stuck 10 days ago, and because I don't want to reinstall everything, I just omit it.
Today, I try to resume the download, but it still stuck, then I did the following:

At the NETWORK setting in MuseHub.
DISABLED community acceleration.

Everything start to download and finished in minutes.
It's possibly caused by faulty P2P downloading acceleration.

I was having the same issue. Stuck on Strings and Woodwinds for several days. These are very large files.
I went to Muse Hub settings and disabled "Enable community distribution" and the Strings and Woodwind downloads immediately finished downloading within a couple of minutes.
