Realtime midi input

It seems that the developers of this software have never use realtime midi input. What we have in musescore isn't it. This is what I expect with I see the term real-time midi input. I expect to be able select a record destination (track/stave and location). And, select the tempo. Then start a metronome clicking at the tempo selected. Now, as I play notes musescore will record them at the time I play them in relation to the click of the metronome. If I press a midi keyboard key on the first click of the metronome in a measure, musescore captures the start of that note at the beginning of the measure. Then, when I release it, musescore captures the release time, and displays the duration. This should work like any midi sequencer.
